Animated teaching boards
Lessons that draw themselves.
Boardra draws mathematics the way a teacher does — one stroke at a time. Build an explanation with shapes, graphs and handwriting. Set it in motion, add your voice, and share it with your class.
Your teaching workspace, right in the browser

The difference
Make the explanation part of the picture.
Let students see how an idea takes shape. Draw a curve, move a point or reveal an equation, then pause wherever the next question takes you.
Reveal each step
Bring shapes and handwriting onto the board stroke by stroke, at a pace that suits your explanation.
A familiar chalkboard feel
Use expressive handwriting, clear mathematical symbols and colour to guide attention to what matters.
Resolution independent
Zoom into a detail or fill a classroom display. Vector shapes and text stay sharp as you change the view.
Always editable
Change a label, adjust the timing or try a different colour. Your board remains editable after you press play.
What it draws
Ten live demonstrations, each built on the same engine.
These run inside the app itself — not recordings of it.
The editor
Your ideas. Your pace. Your board.
Place shapes, text and graphs on the board, then bring them to life on the timeline. Create from scratch or start with a lesson from the library.

All the building blocks
Shapes, arrows, angle marks, handwriting and mathematical symbols. Add number lines, coordinate planes and function graphs to explain the next idea.
Keyframes on every property
Animate position, rotation, size, colour and stroke. Fine-tune when each change happens with its own timeline track.
Motion paths
Let a point follow a curve or an object travel around a shape. Adjust the path and the movement follows your changes.
Followers and live coordinates
Keep a label beside a moving point, with coordinates that update as it travels. Make the connection between a picture and its values visible.
Shape morphing
Transform one outline into another to show how shapes relate. Follow the change as it happens.
Layers, undo, and scrubbing
Arrange and lock layers, duplicate an element and undo an edit. Scrub the timeline to revisit any moment in the explanation.
Voice
Say it while you draw it.
Record a voiceover straight onto the board with a live level meter, or bring in an MP3, M4A or WAV. Clips show their waveform on a dedicated audio band above the element lanes.
- Drag to move, trim edges without destroying the source, split at the playhead
- Overlapping clips stack onto extra lanes and play mixed
- Keep your narration and animation together in the exported video
Lesson library
Start from a finished lesson.
Every lesson in the catalogue downloads into your own workspace. Open it read-only to watch, or duplicate it to get every layer, clip, keyframe and morph target to edit.
Variables and expressions
Turn calculations into algebra, keep equations balanced, and solve from one unknown to multi-step equations.
Fractions and proportional reasoning
See fractions as quantities, build equivalent names, and scale a ratio with tape diagrams and a double number line.
Solving quadratic equations
Factoring, roots on the graph, the quadratic formula, and what the discriminant reveals.
Trigonometry: the unit circle
SOH-CAH-TOA, a rotating radius, key angles in radians, and the sine wave traced straight out of the circle.
Slope and y = mx + b
Rise over run on graph paper, the y-intercept, and what changing m really does to a line.
Factoring with the area model
Un-multiplying: common factors, the box that explains x² + 5x + 6, and the difference of squares cut apart and rebuilt.
Pythagorean theorem
A right triangle, squares on its sides, and the famous equation.
Graphing a parabola
Axes draw on, y = x² sweeps in, and a point rides the curve.
Shape showcase
A tour of the library: shapes created, moved, rotated, morphed and faded.
For the technically minded
Or write the lesson as code.
Developers can build lessons with Boardra’s Dart scene API. Combine shapes, text and animations in code, then play the result on the same live canvas.
Future<void> triangleArea(Scene scene) async {
final title = Text('Areas of Triangles');
await scene.play(Write(title)); // handwritten
final tri = Polygon(
[Vec2(-2, -1), Vec2(2, -1), Vec2(2, 2)],
color: ChalkColors.yellow,
);
await scene.play(Create(tri, duration: 2));
final area = MathText('A = 1/2 b h');
await scene.play(Write(area));
await scene.play(Indicate(area)); // pulse
}Export
Take it with you.
Render a board to MP4 at 1920×1080, 30fps, with the voiceover mixed in — encoded from the very same renderer that draws it live, so what you export is what you watched.
- 1920×1080
- MP4 export
- 30 fps
- Smooth animation
- Your voice
- Narration included
- + JSON
- The scene, beside the video
Video export is implemented for iOS, macOS and Windows.
Everywhere you teach
Built for the places you teach.

Questions
A little more about Boardra.
Is Boardra a video editor?
No. A video editor arranges footage that has already been rendered. Boardra keeps every shape as live vector data and computes each frame as it plays, which is why you can change a value mid-lesson and watch the whole animation re-evaluate.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. Start with the visual editor: drag components onto the board, animate them on the timeline, and record a voiceover. Scripting is there if you want it, not required.
How is this different from Manim?
The mental model is deliberately similar — scenes, mobjects, play calls. The difference is that Manim renders to a video file through Python and ffmpeg, while Boardra draws on a live canvas in real time, with a visual editor on top of the same engine.
Can I export to video?
Yes. Boards export to MP4 at 1080p with the audio track muxed in, alongside a JSON copy of the scene. Video export is implemented for iOS, macOS and Windows.
What subjects does it cover?
The built-in lessons are mathematics, from fractions and proportional reasoning through algebra, coordinate geometry and trigonometry. The drawing engine itself is subject-agnostic — anything you can express as shapes, graphs and handwriting can be built.
Does my work sync between devices?
Boards are saved to your account, so a lesson built on a desktop opens on a tablet. Downloaded catalogue lessons stay read-only until you duplicate them, which keeps the original intact.
